23 Lessons
Just turned 23 last week, and there was no way I wasn't going to write a thread.
Messy "situationships".here are 23 lessons I've learned in the last year.
"Copied 😂"
1. Self-awareness
If you live in a garbage dump for 10 days, you’ll call it a garbage dump.
If you live in it for 10 years, you’ll start calling it ‘Home’.
Just because you're not aware of something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Seek awareness and take responsibility to heal.
2.Being alone stems from loneliness, pain of wanting people but not having anyone.
Being solo stems from solitude, pleasure of not wanting to have people.
Subtle difference, but it’s this difference that makes the difference.
Solo vs Alone.
3.Money, when spent well creates freedom (time), when spent poorly creates enslavement (desire).
Every rupee spent can either liberate you from its necessity or bind you to its dependency.
Money by itself cannot bring or steal happiness.
Freedom vs Enslavement.
4.Freedom, when used well creates happiness, when used poorly creates pleasure.
Freedom is simply an increase in optionality. Options include opportunities for meaningful pursuits, as well as mindless desires.
Happiness vs Pleasure…choose well.
5.Fitness is the rent you pay for the body you live in.
Skip paying it, and you’ll be evicted, going from one house, to a cheaper one, to an even cheaper one, until you’re finally homeless.
Pay it regularly, and live forever in a beautiful home…choice is yours.
6.Habits are activities that your brain has outsourced to your body and your environment, to make it efficient.
Time stores memory and location stores energy.
Do the same thing, at the same time, in the same place, and see how fast your brain converts it into a habit.
7.Mistakes are the price you pay for the experience.
Experience is what you got when you didn’t get what you thought you would.
We have a mental construct of the world, and mistakes help us calibrate toward reality.
Stagnant perfection vs Imperfect growth.
8.Pain is the currency of value.
Don’t run away from the transactions, focus on improving the quality of your negotiation.
Is the pain worth it? What are you gaining from it? Is it meaningful for you?
Useless pain or useful pain…choice is yours.
9.Suffering is the psychological dependency on the story of your pain.
When you surrender responsibility for your pain to the person/situation who caused the pain, it becomes a part of your identity.
That’s when suffering begins.
10.Sometimes, it's our expectation for things to be easy, that makes it difficult.
Eg: Finding the right partner
Sometimes it's our expectation for things to be difficult that makes it difficult.
Eg: Learning a skill
Either way, expectations ruin reality
11.Morality is choosing right over wrong, not fearing the wrong over the right.
You can trust your choice in doing the right, only when you have the ability to do the wrong and deal with its consequences.
Jordanbpeterson says, “Be a monster, and learn to tame it”
12.It's the conviction in your NOs, that adds trust to your YESes.
If your "no" ⇒ NO, then "yes" ⇒ YES
If your "no" ⇒ MAYBE, then "yes" ⇒ MAYBE
Likability of MAYBE vs respect of YES/NO…choice is yours.
13.Don't set a budget for self-improvement (books, health, etc.).
14.No one can replace your family and close friends.
15.Wealth is not money. Wealth is having control of your time.
16.Those who don't talk about money, don't make it.
Save and invest as much money as possible. Financial freedom is highly underrated.
17.The best skill you can master is learning how to learn. Things are changing really fast.
18.Being an employee is hard. Being self-employed is hard. Pick the one with the better payoff.
19.How to manage risk: Ask - What's the worst that could happen? Plan for it, then hope for the best.
20.Everyone is pretending to work more than they actually are. Don't worry about them.
21.You have all that you need.
Be mindful of who you allow into your circle.
22. Your biggest asset is your Health.
23.Don't try to protect your status as a teenager u don't have any reputation,so learn fast and gain insights.
And don't do loop works
I'm not going to say anything about love because I'm pretty awful at it.
That's all the "gyaan" from me.
